Waste Pro, Longwood, Florida, has promoted Russell Mackie to vice president of business development. Filling his previous role as regional vice president for southeast Florida will be Kenny Skaggs.

Both men have nearly 30 years in the waste industry.

Mackie will lead commercial and municipal business efforts in the southeast Florida region as vice president of business development.

After joining Waste Pro in 2002 at the then-new office in Fort Pierce, Florida, with one truck and $6,000 per month in revenue, Mackie became the youngest regional vice president in Waste Pro’s history and increased revenue in the southeast Florida region to more than $185 million.

“Russell took a blank canvas and covered it with Waste Pro green and blue in the Southeast Florida metro market area,” Waste Pro Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President Keith Banasiak says. “He lives and breathes the Waste Pro way of building strong community relationships with a heavy emphasis and focus on service and people. We are looking forward to continued growth under his leadership in this new role.”

In his new role, Mackie will lead the charge on improved pricing and commercial and industrial growth, as well as continuing to foster, develop and maintain Waste Pro’s municipal presence in southeast Florida.

Skaggs, who joined Waste Pro earlier this year as the southeast regional operations manager, will lead Waste Pro’s operations in southeast Florida, which is home to offices in Fort Pierce, West Palm Beach, Pompano Beach and Pembroke Pines. Waste Pro services more than 400,000 homes and 10,000 businesses in the market.

“Kenny has jumped into his career at Waste Pro with both feet on the ground,” Banasiak says. “We are all looking forward to what is next for the region under his leadership.”

Waste Pro also recently announced a promotion in its technology department.
