A vice president with Longwood, Florida-based Waste Pro USA Inc. has been presented with a leadership award by the Miami Beach, Florida-based South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC).
Mike Fernandez, vice president of post collections with the regional waste and recycling firm, was awarded at a recent luncheon designed to honor the top Hispanic community leaders who have made significant and positive contributions in South Florida.
“To be recognized by this organization is a true honor and privilege,” Fernandez says. “The SFLHCC leads the way in promoting and elevating great leaders in South Florida, many of whom are part of the Hispanic community.
“I take great pride in representing Waste Pro at the annual SFLHCC Hispanic Leadership Awards event, and I feel the same pride for my Hispanic community and our environment. It's great when those two come together for this honor.”
The SFLHCC was founded nearly 30 years ago and is considered one of the top five Hispanic chambers of commerce of the United States.
The chamber has been designed to offer its members activities focused on networking and meeting potential business prospects. The SFLHCC has more than 1,200 members and consists of “dedicated professional individuals and business owners who have come together to advance the commercial, financial, educational and civic interests of the ever-growing Hispanic community of South Florida."
