Waste Pro near top of Florida private companies list

Hauling firm ranks second in Central Florida list maintained by regional business publication.

Longwood, Florida-based Waste Pro USA Inc. has placed second on a list of largest family and privately-owned companies in Central Florida. The list is tabulated and presented annually by the Orlando Business Journal publication.

According to Waste Pro, the 2024 ranking is the 14th consecutive year the company has ranked in the top five onn the list. The company also has been ranked as one of Central Florida’s “Fast 50” fastest-growing companies by the publication.

Waste Pro says that as a family and privately owned company, it “has a unique ability to grow competitively in a sustainable and strategic manner.”

Founded in 2001, Waste Pro describes itself as having been dedicated to providing solid waste and recycling collection services to cities and counties initially in Florida and now in an 11-state footprint in the Southeastern United States.

Currently, the company says it serves more than 2 million residential and 100,000 commercial customers in approximately 300 municipal franchises and operates in nearly every Florida county.  “We pride ourselves on being Florida-based, privately owned and family-operated,” says Waste Pro President and CEO Sean Jennings, who refers to himself as “a third-generation garbage man.”

John J. Jennings founded Waste Pro in 2001 and in 2020 his son Sean assumed the CEO post. Under Sean Jennings’ management, Waste Pro’s annual revenue is projected to exceed $1.3 billion in 2024.
