France-based landfill gas-to-energy technology provider Waga Energy has appointed Yann Pierre as group sales director as of mid-August.
“I am thrilled to join Waga Energy, an innovative company that has become a global leading RNG producer in less than a decade, and whose values of daring, commitment, cooperation and expertise I fully share," Pierre says. “As group sales director, my goal is to continue building our sales force in order to accelerate deployment of the Wagabox solution in the countries where the group operates (France, Spain, Italy, the United States and Canada) and in new target markets.”
Pierre is reporting to CEO Mathieu Lefebvre and will head up all sales activities, including business development, renewable natural gas (RNG) sales, contract management and marketing, and has been tasked with accelerating the group’s growth across international markets.
“Yann Pierre has spent the past 20 years developing more than 300 RNG production projects, both in Europe and North America," Waga says. "His track record includes France’s first biomethane injection project using agri-food waste, in the Lille region.”
Pierre has been involved in the environment, RNG and waste-to-energy industry for more than 20 years. Prior to joining Waga Energy, he was a sales director at Minnesota-based water treatment products company Pentair.
From 2014 to 2022, he “played a key role in the development of Prodeval,” which Waga describes as one of France’s leaders in the purification of biogas from anaerobic digestion (AD). At that company, Pierre served as director of operations and then sales director.
Pierre also has worked at Flotech, a New Zealand company involved in gas and fluids engineering, and Urbaser, a waste management and treatment firm based in Spain.
“I am delighted to welcome Yann Pierre, whose contribution to developing the RNG industry, and his personal commitment to the energy transition and the fight against global warming, I greatly appreciate,” Lefebvre says. “His unique expertise, combined with his international sales and marketing experience, will take Waga Energy to a new milestone in its growth."
