Voith Turbo, a Heidenheim, Germany-based provider of drive solutions, systems and comprehensive services, has hired Ralf Geßlein as head of the industry division and member of the corporate board of management. He succeeds Martin Kaufmann, who is resigning from the company June 30 to take on a new professional challenge.

"With Kaufmann, we are losing a colleague who is appreciated everywhere and who has an unbelievable wealth of experience in our markets and in a wide range of industries,” says Cornelius Weitzmann, president and CEO of Voith Turbo. “With a lot of heart and soul and his tireless commitment, he has made a significant contribution to the success of Voith Turbo in recent years.”

Voith says Geßlein studied electrical engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and received his doctorate in control engineering. From 2005, he worked for Siemens in various functions, including vice president of product management large drives industry, senior vice president of drive systems and executive vice president of oil and gas and process industries. Most recently, as CEO, he was responsible for Siemens' global wind generator business, which he integrated into the Flender Group in 2020 and successfully continued.

“I am pleased that with Geßlein, we have been able to win an experienced successor who has extensive expertise and will bring this to the company in growth areas that are important for us,” Weitzmann says.
