A truck explosion at a GFL Environmental waste facility in Pickering, Ontario, left four workers with minor burns.
The event occurred April 30 and the Durham Regional Police and Pickering Fire Department responded to the scene. According to police, three of the injured workers were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
A representative from GFL Environmental tells the Toronto Star that no one was immediately available to comment on the fire at its Pickering facility, which handles liquid and special waste.
“People were actually pulled from their desks to go outside right away” when the explosion took place, the spokesperson tells the Star.
Pickering Fire confirmed it responded to a fire at the facility Tuesday but did not disclose any further information about the incident.
“It’s all under investigation, so unfortunately details aren’t being released at this time,” a spokesperson for the fire department says.
The Ministry of Labor is investigating the incident.
