The Simi Valley Recycling Center, Simi Valley, California, is scouting new locations to make room for a concrete production facility that will be built at the center’s current location, a report by the Ventura County Star says. Construction on the plant is set to start in March.
The city’s planning commission and city council approved the construction of the facility at Simi Valley Recycling Center’s location on Los Angeles Avenue in 2015. Adams Bennett Investments, Corona, California, will build and operate the site.
The Simi Valley Recycling Center has been in business for more than 40 years, the report says, and at the Los Angeles Avenue location for around 25 years. The center is expected to move out of the site by the time construction is scheduled to begin.
A nearby Houston-based Waste Management location is lending a hand to help find a new location for the center. The waste hauler operates a landfill and recycling center near the Los Angeles Avenue location and takes some of its commercial recycling to the center, including cardboard, the report says.
