Ship & Shore Environmental Inc., a Long Beach, California-based provider of air pollution abatement and energy efficiency technology, has been involved in several recent biofuels projects in the United States, including some in the waste conversion sector.

In Galveston, Texas, Ship & Shore helped equip an anaerobic digester (AD) system with regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) technology designed to remove CO2, H2O, and H2S from biogas created by the AD unit.

“The project encountered the challenge of silica compounds in the process, which required specialized media to handle the abrasive nature of silica,” says Ship & Shore, which provided silica-resistant media to ensure the system’s 97 percent thermal effectiveness with higher volumes of RTO media.

A project in Lynchburg, Tennessee, also centered on an AD system that extracts renewable energy gas after removing CO2, H2O, and H2S from the biogas. That system also featured RTO technology as part of a setup Ship & Shore says effectively managed varying gas compositions and flow rates, optimizing energy use significantly below that of alternative technologies.

Three other recent projects—one in Texas and two in Oklahoma—involved upgrading biogas or methane using thermal oxidizing technology.

“These projects not only demonstrate our capability to tackle significant technical challenges but also our unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions that are critical for our planet’s future," Ship & Shore Environmental CEO Anoosheh Oskouian says.

“Each project presented unique challenges that required innovative approaches and technologies,” adds Anu Vij, chief operating officer of Ship & Shore. “Our success across these diverse environments is a testament to our team’s expertise and dedication to environmental excellence.”

Ship & Shore Environmental provides technology and equipment that can help customers meet volatile organic compound abatement challenges in several industries, and operates from offices in the United States, Canada, Europe, India, Thailand, China and other countries.
