Resynergi, Lummus Technology launch modular plastic recycling solution

Resynergi, a Rohnert Park, California-based advanced plastic recycling technology developer, has announced the commercial offering of its proprietary Resynergi Modules, which are supplied, serviced and warrantied by innovation partner Lummus Technology, Houston.

Resynergi says its technology aims to make it easier for material recovery facilities (MRFs) and petrochemical companies to recycle plastic.

The Resynergi Modules use the Continuous Microwave Assisted Pyrolysis (CMAP) technology engineered by Lummus, which Resynergi says offers a decentralized, cost-effective solution to plastic recycling by converting plastic into pyrolysis oil.

The Resynergi Module is engineered to convert 5 tons per day of discarded plastic into pyrolysis oil, a product that can be processed by refiners and petrochemical companies to produce circular polymers.

The company says the technology’s modular design allows for rapid deployment and scalability, while offering a compact footprint. The Resynergi CMAP Modules generate products with up to 68 percent CO2 reduction versus conventional polymer production, according to Resynergi.

By leveraging software from Lummus Digital, the modules can integrate data collection, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), while also monitoring installations, the company says. Available features include real-time data access, enterprise optimization and interactive dashboards.
