QED Environmental Systems Inc., a Dexter, Michigan-based manufacturer of environmental products and a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based Graco Inc., has announced the launch of the Landtec Biogas 3000 fixed gas analyzer. The device is a next-generation system offering continuous monitoring of the complete gas production process.

According to a news release from QED, the device is built on field-proven gas analysis technology, the compact, self-contained Biogas 3000 system offers cost-effective online monitoring that is ideal for anaerobic digestion, biogas monitoring and landfill gas monitoring applications.

The company says the analyzer can utilize up to four sample ports to monitor methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen, with optional monitoring of hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen and carbon monoxide levels. Operators can choose up to five gases to monitor. The device features easy self-installation and maintenance, and QED provides a temporary replacement unit during service, resulting in zero operational downtime for servicing. The Biogas 3000 system offers simple user calibration and an easy-to-operate system. The system is calibrated to ISO/IEC 17025 standards for optimum accuracy.

The Biogas 3000 fixed gas analyzer is available with a continuous monitoring option for CH4, CO2 and O2, and by incorporating external H2S sensors in ranges from 50 parts per minute (ppm) to 10,000 ppm, it can be used to monitor before and after desulphurization. In addition, precalibrated sensors that prevent system downtime are available to users as required. A built-in liquid level monitoring with a dedicated alarm and moisture removal drain or the option for an automatic drain, which empties the catch pot without manual intervention, offers flexibility for on-site maintenance.

Built with an IP65-rated enclosure, the Biogas 3000 system is certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres Zone 2 areas. Various communication options are available to the supervisory control and data acquisition system, including six configurable 4-20 milliampere-second outputs with a Modbus remote thermal unit communication protocol. In addition, process Field Bus and Process Field Net and Ethernet communication protocols are also offered.
