The Polk County Board of County Commissioners in Florida has unanimously awarded Houston-based FCC Environmental Services a contract renewal for waste collection services. This company says the decision comes as a testament to FCC’s strong performance and commitment to excellence since the initial contract was awarded in December 2016.
Under the renewed contract, FCC Environmental Services says in a news release it will continue to serve the residents of Polk County with waste collection services.
FCC says it is grateful for the opportunity to extend its partnership with Polk County and reaffirms its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of service delivery.
“On behalf of the company, FCC is delighted to renew the Polk County contract,” FCC Environmental Services CEO Inigo Sanz says. “FCC has been servicing this contract since 2017, and now with, this new award, will continue well into the future. We appreciate the partnership with the county and look forward to continuing our service to the residents of Polk County.”

The renewed contract’s term is five years with the potential for three one-year extensions, further solidifying the long-term partnership between FCC Environmental Services and Polk County. The initial contract backlog amounts to $90 million, and, with the extension options, the total backlog is projected to reach $155 million.
As part of the contract renewal, FCC Environmental Services committed to investing in its operations. An investment of $20 million is planned, which includes procuring a new compressed natural gas (CNG) collection truck fleet.
FCC Environmental Services also plans to build an on-site CNG fueling station, ensuring the efficient and eco-friendly operation of the new fleet.
“We are excited about the investments we are making to enhance our services in Polk County,” Sanz says. “The introduction of a state-of-the-art CNG fleet and the establishment of our CNG fueling station will contribute to reducing our carbon footprint while delivering superior waste collection services to the community.”
