Synergy Recycling LLC, Miami, a leading regional recycler and re-refiner of used oil and a provider of related environmental products and services, has announced it has been acquired by Safety-Kleen Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Clean Harbors Inc., which is headquartered in Norwell, Massachusetts.
Safety-Kleen, Richardson, Texas, purchased Synergy Recycling in an all-cash transaction for an undisclosed value.
“Synergy and Safety-Kleen are a great fit because we complement each other in so many ways,” Synergy Recycling Founder and President Elliott Paul says. “We believe this transaction will be good for all our stakeholders, especially our customers, employees, suppliers and our neighbors.
"We are very appreciative of the service provided by our transaction advisors at A. E. Rosica & Co. and our legal advisors at Nelson Mullins. We engaged A. E. Rosica & Co. because of their experience and expertise in our industry. Our relationship with them goes back to when they were involved in the sale of my father’s business almost 20 years ago,” he adds.
Davis Malm provided legal counsel to Safety-Kleen.
In addition to its headquarters in Miami, Synergy Recycling has operations in Georgia and other locations throughout the Southeast.
Clean Harbors also completed the acquisition of HydroChemPSC in 2021.
Safety-Kleen is a provider of environmental services to more than 200,000 customers, delivering closed-loop solutions for its customers' waste streams. These solutions allow the company to recycle, reclaim and reuse both used oil and spent cleaning solvent. This system conserves natural resources and reduces customers' environmental liability while providing them with economic advantages through the reduction of costs and the sale of recovered products.
