Meridian Waste, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based integrated, nonhazardous solid waste services company, has acquired Carolina Waste Services Inc., also known as Carolina Waste, effective April 1.
The asset purchase includes residential and roll-off collection vehicles, containers and contracts in the North Carolina counties of Moore, Chatham and Lee. The assets and services will be relocated to Meridian Waste’s existing hauling company in Goldston, North Carolina. Operational staff will transition to Meridian Waste.
“Starting the second quarter of 2024 with the acquisition of Carolina Waste’s quality assets and team members is a great opportunity for Meridian Waste as we grow our footprint in the Triad region of North Carolina,” says Charlie Gray, Meridian Waste vice president of operations. “Carolina Waste has a strong reputation for high customer service among its loyal residential and roll-off customer base.”
According to Meridian, the start-up of its first North Carolina residential contract with the town of Southern Pines will commence Jan. 1, 2025.
“The acquisition will create a solid entrance into the residential line of business which has been limited until now in Meridian Waste’s North Carolina operations,” Gray says. “Building upon the initial base of residential operations will bring further growth and opportunities in the Triad and Triangle regions of the state as we welcome our new customers and Carolina Waste employees into the Meridian Waste family.”
