Mazza Recycling acquires NJ hauling firm

Tinton Falls, New Jersey-based Mazza Recycling Services, a hauler and recycler of metals, C&D materials and single-stream material recovery facility (MRF) secondary commodities, says it has acquired Berlin, New Jersey-based Bull Waste & Recycling. Bull was acquired from the -based Mount Group, also based in Berlin.

The transaction represents Mazza Recycling’s third acquisition this year. “Since acquiring Liberty Waste and Recycling at the beginning of this year, we have been able to provide exceptional waste and recycling collection services throughout Camden and Burlington counties [in New Jersey],” says Jimmy Mazza Jr., president and CEO of Mazza Recycling.

“The services provided by Bull Waste and Recycling align with our existing business lines in Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex counties [New Jersey] and with our overall vision of becoming the number one hauling company in South Jersey and the greater Philadelphia area,” adds Jimmy Mazza Jr.

Seller Mount Group was founded in 1991 by Dave Smith as Mount Construction when Smith was 23 years old. From there, the company added utility services, concrete and paving to its lines of business, including via acquisition of aggregates and paving firms. During that time, the recycling and disposal branch of the Mount Group, Bull Waste & Recycling, provided roll-off container service in Burlington, Mercer, Gloucester and Camden counties in New Jersey.

“The decision to move forward with the Mazza team in the sale of Bull Waste was largely driven by their character and integrity,” says Smith. “We are confident that the Mazza team will embrace the employees and customers of Bull Waste in a way consistent with our beliefs and practices.”

Mazza Recycling characterizes Bull Waste and Recycling’s 10-yard, 20-yard, 30-yard and 40-yard containers as “the perfect complement to Mazza Recycling’s industrial, commercial and construction waste and recycling hauling operations.”

Co-owners and cousins Jimmy Mazza, and Executive Vice President Dominick J. Mazza Jr. say their strategic goals for the upcoming year reflect their commitment to the development and growth of the Mazza family of companies.
