Plessisville, Quebec-based Machinex says it has had a record year of balers sales, including eight single-ram and 12 two-ram high-capacity balers, throughout Canada and the United States. Since the company started designing and manufacturing balers, it has sold 43 single-ram and 35 two-ram balers, for a total of 78 balers since 2003.
Machinex balers are installed at facilities operated by some of the company’s long-time customers, such as Rumpke Recycling in Louisville, Kentucky, and Medina, Ohio; Republic Services in Greensboro, North Carolina; and GFL facilities in Richmond, British Columbia, and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Machinex says it started manufacturing balers to improve its self-sufficiency as a systems supplier and to deliver balers that align with what it describes as its high standards.
Designed to meet the multipurpose needs of recyclers, Machinex says its baler series is designed to maximize density while reducing operating costs. The balers’ prefill device increases main ram cycle speed in forward and reverse modes, according to the company, allowing the balers to meet and exceed the throughput of competitive equipment and reducing energy consumption and wear on motors and pumps. The company says its prefill valve offers faster dry cycle times in excess of up to 2.7 times the speed of other balers.
Machinex says its high-capacity single-ram baler features a patented preflap and shear technology for double compaction that produces high-density, stable bales.
Other design features include bolt-on liners for ease of maintenance, a single-plate frame construction to provide structural stability and options designed to provide operational benefits and reduced costs to operators.
“One of our clients in St. Louis considered four other major two-ram baler manufacturers as a part of their buying process," says Rusty Angel, eastern region sales manager for Machinex. "They selected the Machinex baler because we had the lowest ‘cost of ownership’ over a 10-year period when considering baling capacity and annual maintenance."
