Reconomy, a United Kingdom-based company that has made several recycling- and waste-related acquisitions in the prior year, has acquired Lincoln Waste Solutions LLC of Windsor, Connecticut.

Lincoln was founded in 2005 and provides a "comprehensive, full-service management approach" to handle all types of waste and recycling via services that include consulting, hauler management and back office support.

“Lincoln’s objective is to work closely with its clients and vendors to achieve higher levels of waste efficiency, recycling, sustainability data and cost savings,” Reconomy says.

Lincoln has provided its services to hundreds of clients in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, including to multilocation, regional, national and Fortune 500 companies in a wide variety of industries, according to the acquiring firm.

The transaction represents Reconomy’s first U.S.-based acquisition, representing what the company says is an important strategic milestone and providing it with a platform to accelerate growth in North America using its tech-enabled, "people-powered approach."

Through its RLG brand, Reconomy provides technology to power the common collection scheme for curbside recycling in Ontario. RLG also manages the obsolete electronics and battery recycling compliance obligations for some of the largest consumer electronics brands in the U.S. from its office in New Jersey.

Reconomy says Lincoln’s longstanding relationships with more than 6,000 hauling firms aligns with its experience and expertise delivering a market-leading outsourced model in the U.K. to bring additional value to its customers.

The Lincoln transaction follows previous U.K. and international Reconomy acquisitions, including of Circle Waste of the U.K. this May and of Germany-based furnace dust recycling firm Sudamin Rohstoff this February. Reconomy says it completed five transactions in 2023.

“We are thrilled to announce this acquisition as we continue on our rapid growth trajectory to take advantage of the opportunities in the international waste management sector,” Reconomy CEO Guy Wakeley says.

“The U.S. market has long been of strategic importance to us, and acquiring Lincoln enables us to accelerate our growth plans in this region and expand our international footprint. We are excited to welcome the Lincoln team into the Reconomy family and look forward to working with them to pursue our joint mission of enabling the circular economy.”

Reconomy has been established in the U.K. for more than 30 years. The firm now operates in more than 80 countries with more than 4,000 employees serving some 10,000 customers.

“We are delighted to be joining Reconomy," Lincoln Waste Solutions CEO John Ayvas says. "Our shared values of being collaborative, inventive and real allow us to provide the highest quality service to help customers more effectively manage their waste and reduce costs. Joining Reconomy will enhance our customer offering to help companies become more sustainable as the transition to a circular economy quickens.”
