Lakeshore Recycling Systems acquires DuPage Disposal

The Morton Grove, Illinois, company will add more than 5,000 households to its coverage area as a result of the acquisition.

Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), a Morton Grove, Illinois-based provider of independent recycling and waste diversion services, announced it has acquired West Chicago, Illinois-based DuPage Disposal, a family-owned waste removal service specializing in residential waste and recycling collection. LRS will add more than 5,000 households in unincorporated DuPage, Kane and Cook counties to its coverage area as a result of the acquisition.

The acquisition continues LRS’ westward expansion throughout northern Illinois, and follows recent contract award announcements which includes nearly 50,000 homes in the following municipalities: Lisle, Hinkley, Wheaton, St. Charles, Geneva and DeKalb.

“LRS understands the waste industry and DuPage Disposal better than any local or regional provider, and by joining the LRS family, we are able to offer our customers more innovative and affordable waste disposal and recycling options,” DuPage Disposal owner Kim Collins-Marusiak says. “From safe and innovative waste removal to street sweeping and portable restrooms, LRS knows the Chicago market and has established an outstanding track record for seamlessly integrating the companies it acquires.”

“We welcome Kim and all DuPage Disposal employees to our growing LRS family, and are thrilled to expand our west suburban operations and service area to include waste and recycling coverage for more than 5,000 households,” LRS CEO Alan Handley says. “DuPage Disposal is located in close proximity to our LRS Temporary Services division, also in West Chicago, and that benefits our residential, municipal and business customers with services and operations closer to home and more centralized.”

In June, LRS was awarded the Solid Waste Association of North America’s (SWANA’s) 2018 Overall Safety Award, recognizing LRS for its commitment to ongoing safety awareness initiatives. LRS was the only waste hauler recognized in the safety category.

Financial terms of the acquisition, which is effective immediately, were not disclosed.
