Kane County, Illinois, gains electronic recycling partners

South Elgin and Batavia join West Dundee to host drop-off locations.

The Daily Herald, Chicago, reports the Illinois communities of South Elgin and Batavia have agreed to join West Dundee in hosting drop-off locations for the Kane County’s electronics recycling program.

“We are planning to phase it in quickly, one (site) at a time, over three weeks,” program coordinator Jennifer Jarland told the newspaper. “We hope to start in September.”

The county discontinued its electronics recycling program in May following overwhelming activity at a collection event. Although initially hesitant, West Dundee agreed to host a new drop-off location at a meeting held Aug. 8, 2016.

The drop-off locations will be staffed Monday through Friday. The program will charge $25 for devices with screens and monitors up to 20 inches and $35 for devices with screens 21 inches and larger, the article says.
