Josh Haraf, market area vice president of New York City at Interstate Waste Services Inc. (IWS), Teaneck, New Jersey, has been named to the Waste360 2025 40 Under 40 Awards list. This award recognizes young leaders who are “driving innovation and shaping the future of the waste, recycling and organics industry.”
Over the past 14 years, IWS says Haraf has embraced a broad range of roles, including transfer station laborer, operations manager and sales director, culminating in his current role as market area vice president of New York City. According to IWS, Haraf’s experience has equipped him to guide the company, through its subsidiary Action Carting, as it helps businesses transition to New York’s Commercial Waste Zones program. Haraf leads a team of more than 400 employees, servicing more than 13,000 customers.
“I am honored to be recognized among such a talented group of industry leaders,” he says. “I’m also grateful to IWS for the opportunity to lead a dedicated team that is focused on helping our customers navigate a once-in-a-generation transformation in New York City’s waste management system. We will continue to deliver tailored solutions that help all our customers—old and new, large and small—adapt efficiently and thrive in this new landscape.”
“The IWS family is proud to see Josh receive this well-earned recognition,” IWS CEO Michael DiBella says. “Josh’s leadership, expertise and dedication to service excellence make him an invaluable asset to our company and the customers and communities we serve.”
The 2025 Waste360 40 Under 40 honorees were selected by a panel of industry experts and recognized at an awards ceremony May 6 at WasteExpo in Las Vegas.
