Hauler Hero, a San Diego-based software developer with an all-in-one tech platform that helps waste management companies scale their businesses, has announced $10 million in seed funding led by venture capital groups I2BF Global Ventures, New York; K5 Global, San Francisco; Somersault Ventures, Dover, Delaware; and Recall Capital, San Francisco; and executives from ServiceTitan, Glendale, California.
Hauler Hero uses AI and cloud-based technology to help waste haulers improve their operations, increase efficiency and reduce costs. The company says the funding will allow it to continue scaling its platform to automate workflow for more waste management companies.
“Every community relies on waste and recycling haulers for health and safety. Rain or shine, flat tire or full, pandemic or not—no matter what, the trash must get picked up,” says Mark Hoadley, CEO and co-founder of Hauler Hero. “Every single day, these heroes keep our communities healthy and clean, but for decades, haulers have been forced to use outdated systems that hinder their ability to operate efficiently. The more time and money we can save haulers, the more they can spend with their families.”
The company’s platform automates invoicing, routing, dispatch and customer engagement, resulting in more than 14 hours saved per week by office employees while driving significant improvements in cash collection, customer churn and client satisfaction, the company says.
The company works with more than 120 waste management customers in 40 states, and grew 200 percent in the past year. Hauler Hero serves residential, commercial, government and industrial haulers, including those who serve major institutions like Verizon, Wells Fargo, McDonald's, UPS, PG&E, US Army and Marriott.
Key features of the Hauler Hero platform include:
- CRM: ability to view all customer data in one place, improving support and efficiency
- Billing: ability to streamline invoicing with automated billing tools
- Driver app: simple tool for drivers to run routes efficiently and log exception events
- Follow-up: automate communication with customers to improve support
- Dispatching: Ability to track route progress, reroute with a click and keep drivers in sync
- Reporting: Comprehensive system to track key metrics to inform data-driven decisions
- Customer portal: Ability to give customers access to payments, service history and more.
“Hauler Hero is the first software that has taken the time to listen, understand the pain points and challenges that my team and I face daily, always working to construct a software that is making our lives easier serving our needs for all recurring and commercial success,” says Joe Parmenter, owner of Greenleaf Recycling, based in Horseheads, New York. “They’re saving us countless hours and dollars per week on unnecessary work from separate software and in-house custom reporting. We’re excited to see what they roll out next.”
