Generate announces hiring of Bill Caesar

Generate, San Francisco, a leading investor and operator of diversified, sustainable infrastructure, has announced the hiring of waste industry veteran Bill Caesar.

According to the company, Caesar will help lead and expand Generate’s operations in the broad range of waste-to-value segments critical to building a more sustainable future.

Caesar brings decades of experience in waste management and recycling, corporate strategy and innovation. His most recent position was as CEO of WCA Waste Corp., a vertically integrated, nonhazardous solid waste and recycling services company based in Houston that was acquired by GFL Environmental in 2020 for $1.2 billion.

Prior to this role, he held several positions with Houston-based Waste Management (WM). He joined WM in 2010 as the chief strategy officer and in 2012 became the president of WM Recycling and the WM Organic Growth Group, where he led the recyclable materials business for the company and oversaw its portfolio of early-stage technology and services investments.

Prior to joining WM, he was a principal in the Atlanta office of McKinsey & Co., where he advised clients across a broad spectrum of industries, including waste management, on corporate strategy, growth, performance improvement, sales and pricing.

Over the last six years, Generate has built more than 2,000 sustainable infrastructure assets across the energy, waste, water and transport markets. The company's growing network of bio-digester facilities is collectively one of the largest processors of organic waste in North America, with its facilities processing 276,500 tons of food waste a year.
