An early morning Oct. 5 trash fire closed Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Station in Moraine, Ohio, for a portion of that day, according to a report on wtdn.com.
Crews responded to a fire call at the waste district building just after 4:30 a.m. Oct. 5. County officials say the fire happened in the trash on the tipping floor. The fire produced heavy smoke.
Fire crews from Kettering, Moraine and Dayton worked to contain the fire. The report said there were no injuries or damage to equipment. The waste district planned to bring in a piece of equipment to stir the trash and get to the base of the fire to put it out completely.
Trash haulers were being diverted to landfills until the transfer station reopened later that day.
