FCC Environmental Services, Houston, has been selected to oversee solid waste collection services for St. Johns County, Florida, as of Aug. 1, 2024.
The company will provide collection services for more than 300,000 St. Johns County residents.

The initial contract spans seven years, with the potential for two five-year extensions. The contract backlog for the initial duration plus extensions is projected to reach $575 million.
FCC will also invest more than $40 million in approximately 60 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles. FCC says this investment showcases its commitment to environmental sustainability and underscores its focus on providing innovative solutions to its clients.
As previously reported by Waste Today, Polk County, another Florida county, extended its contract with FCC for an additional five years in July. The initial contract was awarded in 2016. Under the renewed contract, FCC committed to investing $20 million, which includes procuring a new CNG collection truck fleet, as well as plans to build an onsite CNG fueling station.
