Cards Holdings LLC has acquired Ozark Waste Solutions (OWS) of Winona, Missouri, marking its second acquisition in that state since May, when the company purchased J&J Refuse LLC. OWS is a hauling company with a transfer station and solid waste assets servicing two counties near the Arkansas-Missouri state line. Specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Prior to the purchase, OWS was owned and operated by Allen and Deena Phillips for roughly 15 years. Cards says OWS, which is located in Shannon County, has established a reputable name and provides great customer service. The company offers commercial, municipal, subscription residential, permanent and temporary roll-off services to roughly 5,000 customers and is supported by a fleet of more than 10 vehicles. It also has an integrated facility network that enables the company to deliver end-to-end waste and environmental solutions, Cards notes.
“The acquisition of OWS provides us with a unique opportunity to acquire a well-established hauling company with sound postcollection operations. This complementary set of assets broadens our solid waste footprint within the Mid-South,” says Dan Christensen, founder and CEO of Cards. “We are excited to welcome the OWS employees and customers to the CARDS family. Allen and Deena Phillips have built a wonderful business, and we are excited to carry on their legacy.”
Cards says Allen and Deena Phillips have been retained for transitional services, while Orren Phillips, the couple’s son, will continue to operate the business day to day.
“We are extremely excited about this acquisition,” Chief Revenue Officer Dustin Reynolds says. “This transaction is aligned with our strategic plan, accelerating the growth and enhancing our geographic position within the Mid-South.”
Fayetteville, Arkansas-based Cards has completed four other acquisitions across multiple geographies so far in 2023, including Barnes Waste Disposal, a residential waste hauler based in Princeton, Texas, that provides collection, hauling and disposal services to commercial, residential and municipal customers in Collin, Hunt, Dallas and Rockwell counties, as well as the purchases of Chelsea, Oklahoma-based Johns Refuse LLC, which provides residential and commercial services in the greater Tulsa, Oklahoma, market, and Muskogee, Oklahoma-based Whittinghill Disposal Services, a provider of commercial and industrial waste hauling services.
