Birmingham, Alabama-based Autocar LLC is conducting a refuse collection truck online auction, with the proceeds going to the North Carolina-based Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF).
The vehicle maker has put up for bid an Autocar DC-64R Severe-Duty Conventional Truck with a Galfab Hoist and Pioneer Tarping System.
The donation is being made in honor of Charles “Mickey” Flood, according to Autocar and the EREF, as part of the wider EREF 2021 Annual Charitable Auction. Flood was a long-time solid waste executive who also served on the Autocar advisory board. He died in May of this year.
According to Autocar, the DC-64R has been engineered specifically for the refuse application. The winning bidder “will work with Autocar engineers to design their brand new DC-64R to their specifications,” says the company.
