WasteExpo has announced that it is postponing its event, which was scheduled to take place May 4-7 in New Orleans. The event has been rescheduled for Aug. 10-13 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
According to an email delivered by Marc Acampora, show director of WasteExpo, and Mark Hickey, vice president of WasteExpo, the conference is being postponed due to concerns surrounding coronavirus, or COVID-19.
“The health and safety of our WasteExpo community is our top priority,” Acampora and Hickey write. “The WasteExpo team is working through a comprehensive effort focusing on a managed postponement program to respond to the needs of the industry, the exhibitors, the attendees and all the other staff that work the shows during this challenging time.
“This is not a decision we made lightly,” they add. “We spoke to many of our partners, exhibitors, speakers and attendees, and the overwhelming consensus was that moving the show was most prudent.”
Current WasteExpo registrants will have their registrations transferred to the rescheduled event dates. The event organizers are encouraging attendees to email WasteExpo@waste360.com with any questions or concerns.
WasteExpo plans to reach out to event exhibitors personally this week to discuss any questions.
