Toter, a brand from Wastequip, Charlotte, North Carolina, and manufacturer of products used in the collection of waste, recycling and organics, has recently launched a new 32-gallon medical waste cart. Biohazard compatible and suitable for use in a wide range of medical facilities, from offices and ambulatory care facilities to surgical centers and hospitals, the new cart was developed in response to customer demand for a smaller, more maneuverable cart.
With a load rating of 112 pounds and available with two wheels or two-wheels/two-casters, the new medical waste cart is gasketed and features a locking lid (barrel lock) designed to eliminate the possibility of leaks from biohazard material and provide an additional degree of security. The carts are also fully stackable and nestable to allow for easy initial transport and storage, as well as rapid change-outs for sterilization.
The medical waste carts are built using Toter’s advanced rotational molding process designed to ensure durability, provide additional reinforcements and reduce the risk of cracking. Toter’s 32-gallon carts are also made to easily fit into tight spaces.
“Medical waste carts present unique challenges because they must meet OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and other standards for hazardous material and withstand heavy use and frequent cleaning and sterilization,” Jeniffer Coates, Toter director of product development and warranty, says. “With the new cart’s incredibly high strength-to-weight ratio, easy portability, compact size and security features, we’ve delivered a medical waste cart that fills a void in the market and makes it much easier for medical facilities to ensure safety, compliance and efficiency, all with a longer service life and lower total cost of ownership than competing products.”
The new 32-gallon Toter carts are part of Toter’s broader line of medical products, which includes 64- and 96-gallon carts, tilt trucks, containers and accessories. Toter carts are compatible with all major brands of lifters and other waste stream management products and come with a standard two-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
