S2 is new name for C&C Manufacturing
C&C Manufacturing, which offers equipment for the scrap metal recycling market and others under the brand names Aljon, Bonfiglioli and Vammas, is adopting S2 Manufacturing as its new corporate name.
The “S2” represents “simple and strong,” and the Ottumwa, Iowa-based company says its new name will better align with its business today.
The newly renamed S2 is a manufacturer and global distributor of heavy equipment for scrap metal recycling, waste management and airport maintenance applications.
“With the S2 Manufacturing name, we are building on the tagline of ‘Keeping Simple and Building it Strong,’ better representing the exciting future for the company and enabling us to seamlessly add new products,” S2 Manufacturing President and Chief Operating Officer David Bradford says. “We continue our commitment to excellence for our Aljon products, serving our many customers in the scrap metal, recycling and waste management business.”
Under the new name, the company also will continue to draw upon its more than 60-year heritage, saying, “The Aljon brand will also be elevated, using that name for its powerful and durable scrap recycling equipment, landfill compactors, car crushers and metal balers.”
In addition to manufacturing Aljon-branded equipment, S2 Manufacturing serves as the North American distributor of Bonfiglioli Squalo portable guillotine shears and Drake shredders. The firm also makes Vammas-brand airport snow removal equipment.
S2 Manufacturing was acquired by Florida-based Equivu Capital in 2021, when it was still known as C&C Manufacturing. Equivu Capital invests in growing businesses as the investment arm of Salvatore C. Calvino.
Viably opens California warehouse
Denver-based equipment distributor Viably, formerly known as Komptech Americas, has opened a secondary inventory warehouse in Sacramento, California. The company says the move broadens its physical presence and bolsters its capacity to serve its growing customer base in California, Arizona and Nevada.
“We are incredibly excited about our exponential growth in the West,” says Kurt Schoppe, recently appointed director of operations for the western United States at Viably. “Establishing our Sacramento warehouse marks a milestone in our mission to deliver premium service to our valued customers.”
Viably says Schoppe is a seasoned veteran in the waste management sector and that his appointment “promises to invigorate Viably’s operations and propel its ongoing growth trajectory.”
The company also is planning a Customer Demonstration Day during the first quarter of next year in California.
“This interactive event platform will spotlight the company’s cutting-edge waste management technologies and offer customers an exclusive opportunity to experience these solutions in person,” Viably says.
“Our California Customer Demonstration Day event is our unique way of engaging personally with many of our customers and providing them a firsthand glimpse into how our pioneering products can revolutionize their operations,” Schoppe says.
Viably says its western expansion also includes several new staff members, including parts management, shipping and logistics, technical service and equipment sales personnel.
The company’s product line includes equipment to process and recycle residential recyclables, organic materials, C&D materials and mixed municipal solid waste.
