Doosan expands dealer network
Doosan Infracore North America LLC, Suwanee, Georgia, has added two ACT Construction Equipment branch locations to its dealer network, which will serve as authorized sales, service, parts and rental providers of Doosan equipment.
ACT Construction Equipment can now offer its customers in Cloverdale, Virginia, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a range of Doosan equipment, including crawler excavators, wheel excavators and material handlers.
ACT Construction Equipment, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been in business since 1951, under current ownership since 1973 and in the compact equipment market since 2008. The company decided to offer Doosan equipment to complement its current compact equipment offerings.
“Doosan understands the need for quality support rather than pushing a product strictly on price,” says Britt Hefner, operations manager for ACT Construction Equipment. “With these new locations, our intent is to be more responsive to our customers in the Cloverdale and Winston-Salem areas and to go above and beyond to maximize their uptime.”
Epiroc names new president of Epiroc USA
Epiroc has appointed Jon Torpy as general manager and president of Epiroc USA, Commerce City, Colorado, effective May 1.
Torpy has 15 years of leadership experience with Stockholm-based Epiroc and its predecessor, Atlas Copco, and 20 years of overall industry experience.
In his new role, Torpy will lead the U.S. customer center of Epiroc, which supplies drill rigs, rock excavation and construction equipment and tools while providing service and technology solutions.
According to the company, Torpy was a leader in advancing the Epiroc autonomous drill program during his tenure as vice president of marketing for Epiroc’s Drilling Solutions division.
“Jon’s strategic mindset and outstanding industry track record make him well-suited to deliver on our Epiroc vision of becoming and remaining the customer’s first choice in the United States,” says Jose Sanchez, president of the Epiroc Drilling Solutions division.
Torpy joined Ingersoll-Rand Drilling Solutions in 1999 as an application engineer. After Atlas Copco, now Epiroc, acquired the Drilling Solutions division, Torpy became the regional manager of Latin America and Canada. He then held several positions before moving into his vice president of marketing role with Drilling Solutions in Garland, Texas.
Since growing up in a copper mining camp in Cuajone, Peru, Torpy has spent most of his life as part of the mining community. In 1999, he graduated from Montana Tech with a bachelor’s degree in mining and mineral engineering. He also graduated from the TIO International Executive Program at the Stockholm School of Economics.
“I’m excited to work with our committed people to be the strongest partner for our U.S. customers,” Torpy says in a news release. “By staying true to our core values of innovation, commitment and collaboration, we will provide customers with the performance they need to succeed today and the technology to lead in the future.”
Routeware acquires EasyRoute, Webaspx
Routeware Inc., a Portland, Oregon-based provider of computerized route management systems to the waste industry, has announced the acquisition of Atlanta-based EasyRoute Inc. and its U.K. parent company, Webaspx. Both companies serve municipal and for-profit haulers who operate residential, commercial and roll-off fleets.
The companies, which have worked as partners for the last two years, will integrate their offerings, which include in-cab computers, route management software and route optimization services. Webaspx will continue operating under the same brand.
“The inclusion of EasyRoute’s easy-to-use route optimization product in our portfolio uniquely positions Routeware to deliver best-of-breed on-board computer systems, better route management and intelligent route design,” Routeware CEO Tom Malone says. “When combined with Routeware’s Driver Performance Optimizer (Routeware DPO), haulers can safely lower costs, capture more revenue and increase customer satisfaction.”
“Our partnership with Routeware proved that U.S.-based waste haulers want a modern route optimization solution that works and doesn’t require a GIS specialist or a Ph.D. to operate,” EasyRoute and Webaspx CEO Calum Forsyth says. “Our EasyRoute optimization product works seamlessly with Routeware’s on-board computer system to creatively and safely improve waste industry routes.”
Vecoplan appoints Michael Lambert to board
Germany-based Vecoplan AG has appointed Michael Lambert to its management board, effective April 1.
Lambert has been responsible for the company’s commercial operations since 2014 and is manager of its European subsidiaries. In this capacity, he supports Werner Berens, who has been CEO of Vecoplan since 2012 and oversees Vecoplan’s divisions and supply chain activities.
Lambert has a degree in business administration and has held a number of management positions. In January 2014, Vecoplan appointed Lambert as CFO, and he worked closely with Berens to reposition the company and place it on a sound footing, Vecoplan says.
“The appointment of Michael Lambert to the management board of Vecoplan AG was the logical consequence of his dedication and performance,” says Andreas Krause, chairman, Vecoplan’s supervisory board. “With this strong, well-coordinated pair at the helm, Vecoplan AG is well-prepared for further expansion and profitable growth.”
UNTHA promotes its UK sales director
Austria-based industrial shredding equipment provider UNTHA has promoted Gary Moore to director of global business development. The company says it made the strategic decision in anticipation of worldwide growth it expects over the coming year.
As sales director of UNTHA UK—a position he will maintain—Moore has played “an instrumental role in developing the United Kingdom business by 50 percent during 2018,” UNTHA says. The equipment firm says 2019 “looks set to be even bigger, with 12 waste-to-energy (WTE) shredding solution sales already secured in the first four months of the year.”
An exclusive distributor agreement for the XR mobil-e shredder range is soon to be announced, sales of parts and other UNTHA service products are up by 40 percent, and two further sales appointments are also imminent as UNTHA looks to expand its team, according to the firm.
Drawing on almost 30 years of experience in the international waste, recycling and wider engineering sectors, Moore’s new global position will see him focus on “supercharging the growth of UNTHA America,” the equipment maker says.
Established in 2010, UNTHA’s New Hampshire-based office has gained an initial foothold in the U.S., with particular success in the southern states. “But the vast market is rich in wider potential—not least due to a growing demand for alternative fuel,” according to UNTHA.
Moore will be responsible for introducing a sales and marketing plan that will fuel the organic growth of the business while exploring distribution partner agreements. He also is being tasked with helping operators design environmentally compliant plants producing homogenous, on-specification fuels with maximum yield.
Moore also is working on a new strategic partner relationship in Australia. “The WTE market is in its infancy there in comparison with parts of Europe,” Moore says. “We’re therefore excited about the potential for UNTHA to expand there. As the market is emerging, it’s one of the continents where we’re not yet an established industry name. But that’s about to change.”
