Company Wrench names product manager
Company Wrench Ltd., Carroll, Ohio, announced that Mike Walter will be the product manager of the Terex-Fuchs product line.
The announcement is made in conjunction with Company Wrench’s recent appointment as the official Fuchs dealer in North Carolina and South Carolina. In addition to the Carolinas, Company Wrench is the official Fuchs dealer in Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida.
Walter brings more than 30 years of experience to his new role as product manager. Company Wrench says Walter’s specific knowledge and expertise in the scrap and recycling industries make him a perfect fit to manage Fuchs’ complete line of material handlers.
“Mike’s experience in the scrap and recycling industry is virtually unparalleled. His knowledge and enthusiasm of the industry will hopefully push Fuchs to a new level,” says Cam Gabbard, president of Company Wrench.
Walter served eight years in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Gulf War. Walter later served for several years in the Army Corps of Engineers.
Gabbard says, “We’re very excited to have Mike on board. I believe Mike is capable of doing great things for the Company Wrench-Fuchs partnership.”
Stadler launches tool trailer to facilitate installations
Stadler America LLC, headquartered in Colfax, North Carolina, has launched a tool trailer that it says will make installations of systems and retrofits at material recovery facilities (MRFs) more efficient.
Stadler says the trailer was designed as another resource to provide cost savings and innovation to the current U.S. marketplace.
The trailer was designed to be a cost-effective way to transport tools and staff to on-site installations. It eliminates extra handling and costs associated with shipping containers or boxes for such projects.
The tool trailer is designed for a 10-man team and equipped with all the tools and equipment needed to perform installations and plant retrofits. It includes a changing area in the front of the trailer and a small office for the crew.
In addition to providing a fully stocked tool area, the key areas of focus in the design of the tool trailer were convenience and quick response. The tool trailer will simplify the loading and unloading process and access at the job site, according to Stadler America.
Volvo Group partners with NVIDIA to develop autonomous truck technologies
The Volvo Group, Gothenburg, Sweden, has announced it signed an agreement with Santa Clara, California-based NVIDIA to jointly develop a decision-making system for autonomous commercial vehicles and machines. Utilizing NVIDIA’s end-to-end artificial intelligence (AI) platform for training, simulation and in-vehicle computing, the resulting system will be designed to safely handle fully autonomous driving on public roads and highways.
The solution will be built on NVIDIA’s full software stack for sensor processing, perception, map localization and path planning, enabling a range of possible autonomous driving applications, such as freight transport, refuse and recycling collection, public transport, construction, mining, forestry and more.
“Automation creates real-life benefits for both our customers and society in terms of safety, energy efficiency and—as a consequence—productivity. We continue to gradually introduce automated applications in the entire spectrum of automation, from driver support systems to fully autonomous vehicles and machines. This partnership with NVIDIA is an important next step on that journey,” says Martin Lundstedt, president and CEO of the Volvo Group.
The partnership with NVIDIA will focus on the development of a flexible, scalable autonomous driving system, which is planned to be used first in commercial pilots and later in commercial offerings from the Volvo Group. The agreement signed between the Volvo Group and NVIDIA is a long-term partnership spanning the course of several years.
“The latest breakthroughs in AI and robotics bring a new level of intelligence and automation to address the transportation challenges we face,” says Jensen Huang, NVIDIA founder and CEO.
“The latest breakthroughs in AI and robotics bring a new level of intelligence and automation to address the transportation challenges we face. We are thrilled to partner with Volvo Group to reinvent the future of trucking.”
“Automation is a key technology area for the Volvo Group. With this partnership, we will further increase our speed of development and strengthen our long-term capabilities and assets within automation to the benefit of our customers in different segments and markets,” says Lars Stenqvist, Volvo Group CTO.
