Liebherr Group breaks ground on logistics center
Liebherr Group, a Switzerland-based heavy equipment manufacturer with a regional corporate headquarters in Newport News, Virginia, has broken ground on its new logistics center located in Tupelo, Mississippi.
The facility’s central location offers logistical advantages and enables the company to better serve its customers based in the U.S. and across the Americas, Liebherr says, strengthening its presence in the American market.
The new logistics center will serve as a hub for a wide range of operations, including warehousing, distribution, preassembly, kitting, repackaging and customs and export services.
As part of the project’s first phase, the facility will support the distribution of products from Liebherr’s earth-moving, tower cranes, concrete technology, mobile and crawler cranes, maritime cranes and components. With a $176 million investment, the facility is expected to create 180 jobs in the region once completed.
“It’s about creating job opportunities for our people. That’s what a great company like Liebherr is going to do here in this community, and that’s something that really gets me excited about this project,” Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves says.
Additional product segments are expected to be integrated shortly after operations commence. The company says the facility will incorporate cutting-edge technologies, sustainable design elements and scalability to meet evolving customer needs.
“By establishing this facility, Liebherr aims to provide faster and more efficient services to its customers, reinforcing its position as a leader in the industry,” the company adds.
Liebherr Logistics GmbH serves more than 70 Liebherr Sales and Service companies worldwide, covering over 20 product lines. Since 2015, it has operated from Oberopfingen, Germany.
The acquired site comprises 110 acres, offering the potential for more facilities and services in addition to the continental logistics center.
Sanborn, Head & Associates launches landfill data management system
Sanborn, Head & Associates Inc., headquartered in New Hampshire, has announced the launch of Project Portal, its landfill data management system built and hosted by De maximis Data Management Solutions, St. Paul, Minnesota, and optimized for managing mission-critical landfill information.
Sanborn Head, an engineering and technical consulting firm serving broad private, public and institutional clients in the development, energy, industrial and solid waste markets, describes Project Portal as “a robust, cloud-based environmental data management system that has been meticulously designed to cater to the unique needs of landfill operators, providing them with an integrated framework to make informed decisions based on precise environmental data.”
The web-based system streamlines and synthesizes various on-site landfill devices, including flow meters, flares, pump stations and systems for wastewater, leachate treatment and power plants, the company says, providing real-time access to this extensive data and advanced analytics, cumulative trending and comprehensive reporting. The system enables landfills to maintain compliance while optimizing budgets.
Olympic Wire acquired by IEG
Impact Environmental Group (IEG) has acquired Costa Mesa, California-based Olympic Wire and Equipment.
Olympic Wire, founded by Jim Walker in 1995, provides baling equipment, baling wire, parts and service.
“Olympic has established itself as a trusted partner and supplier to the waste and recycling industry,” says Elgin, Illinois-based IEG.
The company says Walker will continue to lead Olympic as part of IEG to help “drive the continued growth of the business.”
Olympic offers several types of baling wire; used equipment, including horizontal and vertical balers; and components for equipment manufactured by Harris, American Baler, Green Machine and other recycling machinery makers. It has locations in Southern and Northern California, providing IEG with “a strategically located service hub for one of the nation’s largest markets.”
Olympic is the fourth acquisition IEG has made in the waste and recycling equipment service sector, following Naples, Florida-based FleetGenius Compactor Solutions earlier in 2024 and UCS Equipment and WOR Inc. earlier this decade.
“These acquisitions, in addition to organic growth initiatives, have positioned IEG as the leading nationwide provider of compactor and baler service, with highly trained technicians spanning the country in addition to robust installation and refurbishment teams housed in facilities across the United States,” IEG says.
Founded in 1999, IEG is a global environmental products and service business providing new and replacement products for waste and recycling collection containers, compaction equipment, transportation applications, building infrastructure, spill containment and dewatering.

Motion Industries Inc., a Birmingham, Alabama-based distributor of maintenance, repair and operation replacement parts and a provider of industrial technology solutions, has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire the operating assets of International Conveyor and Rubber (ICR), based in Blairsville, Pennsylvania.
The transaction was expected to close by the end of 2024.
ICR services commercial and industrial customers in the eastern United States. The company has seven locations, offering sales, installation, repair and maintenance of conveyor belts and related system products. It also provides engineering and design services for custom solutions.
ICR serves a variety of industries, including mining and aggregates, power generation, oil and gas, construction, steel, building materials manufacturing, package handling and distribution, wood/pulp/paper, cement and asphalt, recycling and marine terminals.
“It’s a perfect match—both companies are dedicated to their customers and share the same core values,” says Kory Krinock, one of ICR’s owner-operators. “We look forward to enhancing our services and customer value proposition while contributing to Motion’s growth.”
With 150 employees, ICR will join Motion’s business unit Motion Conveyance Solutions. Motion Conveyance Solutions provides value-added solutions and services, specializing in fluid conveyance, critical moving parts, conveyor belting, hose, rubber parts and field services. With a network of nationwide belt specialists, customers receive full field support, on-site expertise, hands-on training and more across industries, the company says.

We are thrilled to welcome the highly talented ICR employees to the Motion team, including Kory and the other owner-operators, who will continue to play an integral role in the business.”
Hauler Hero announces $10M in seed funding
Hauler Hero, a San Diego-based software developer with an all-in-one tech platform that helps waste management companies scale, has raised $10 million in seed funding led by venture capital groups I2BF Global Ventures, New York; K5 Global, San Francisco; Somersault Ventures, Dover, Delaware; and Recall Capital, San Francisco; and executives from ServiceTitan, Glendale, California.
Hauler Hero uses artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based technology to help waste haulers improve their operations, increase efficiency and reduce costs. The company says the funding will allow it to continue scaling its platform to automate workflow for additional waste management companies.
“Every community relies on waste and recycling haulers for health and safety. Rain or shine, flat tire or full, pandemic or not—no matter what, the trash must get picked up,” Hauler Hero co-founder and CEO Mark Hoadley says. “Every single day, these heroes keep our communities healthy and clean, but for decades, haulers have been forced to use outdated systems that hinder their ability to operate efficiently. The more time and money we can save haulers, the more they can spend with their families.”
The company’s platform automates invoicing, routing, dispatch and customer engagement, resulting in more than 14 hours saved per week by office employees while driving significant improvements in cash collection, customer churn and client satisfaction, the company says.
Hauler Hero works with more than 120 waste management customers in 40 states and grew 200 percent in the past year. Hauler Hero serves residential, commercial, government and industrial haulers, including those that serve major institutions, including Verizon, Wells Fargo, McDonald’s, UPS, PG&E, the U.S. Army and Marriott.
Key features of the Hauler Hero platform include customer relationship management, streamlined billing, a driver app for route efficiency, automated follow-up, dispatching, comprehensive reporting and a customer portal.
“Hauler Hero is the first software that has taken the time to listen and understand the pain points and challenges that my team and I face daily, always working to construct a software that is making our lives easier, serving our needs for all recurring and commercial success,” says Joe Parmenter, owner of Greenleaf Recycling, based in Horseheads, New York, which uses the platform. “They’re saving us countless hours and dollars per week on unnecessary work from separate software and in-house custom reporting. We’re excited to see what they roll out next.”
