Walnut Creek, California-based Zabble Inc.’s Mobile Tagging for Jurisdictions software as a service is designed to provide route planning and artificial intelligence (AI) to measure fullness and contamination in curbside bins and help municipalities comply with California’s Senate Bill 1383, which mandates organic waste collection. Some of the software’s features include:
- access to geocoded addresses on a mobile app, even with little or no internet service
- AI technology that measures fullness and can identify objects under the surface
- incident and contamination level verification in real time through images
- the ability to upload a spreadsheet of hauler routes, addresses and bin information to a dashboard to create optimized routes in less than 2 ½ hours

The Alpena, Michigan-based company says the Optimizer features a “unique rotational design” that enables drums to avoid low ceilings. Some of the Optimizer line’s other features include:
- a horizontal reach of 25 ½ inches to help unload bulk materials and loose recyclables
- the availability of two models, one that reaches up to 8 ½ feet and one that reaches anywhere from 9 to 20 feet
- a patent-pending design that reduces floor space requirements by up to 39 percent over comparable hydraulic models
- a capacity of 2,000 pounds powered by dual chains that provide redundancy

Epax Systems Inc.’s Ropax Roto-Compactor is designed for use by businesses wishing to compact materials at the point of generation. The Panorama City, California, company says the compactors are “robust, low-maintenance, industrial-grade” machines that take up a footprint about the size of a standard pallet. The Ropax Roto-Compactor also features:
- a rotating drum that swivels back and forth while maintaining constant pressure to achieve an 8-to-1 compaction ratio
- a pull-down feed slot that keeps hands a safe distance from the compaction drum while allowing continuous feeding
- the choice between placing compacted materials in a 370-gallon plastic bag or a 1.5-yard steel container on wheels
- a rotation drum with speeds ranging from 15 to 25 rpm
