Water & Carbon Group’s LEEF System
Australia-based Water & Carbon Group’s LEEF (Low Energy Evaporative Fractionation) System is designed to treat per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in landfill leachate and other settings. The company says the system can remove targeted PFAS compounds to below detectable levels by taking advantage of the way PFAS attach to air bubbles, which allows them to be skimmed off and removed. Its other features include:
- a customizable modular design that can be scaled up to meet the demands of any landfill
- the ability to treat complex feed streams without requiring extensive, expensive pretreatment
- a lower volume of waste than other PFAS treatment options, such as membrane solutions, granular activated carbon and ion exchange
- low-cost operating and maintenance costs compared with alternative PFAS treatment solutions
