MoviTherm iEFD fire detection and alarm system
![](/fileuploads/publications/35/issues/9950/articles/images/movitherm_on_tablet_fmt.png)
MoviTherm, Irvine, California, has launched its Intelligent Early Fire Detection (iEFD) system, which, when hot spots are detected, is designed to send fast, real-time alerts to building occupants and first responders using internet of things cloud-based software. The iEFD system:
- uses a web browser to display an interactive map that pinpoints the source of the potential fire
- notifies building occupants and first responders of hot spots via voice and text messages or emails
- offers a network of modems that is enabled in case a facility’s internet fails
- connects with a facility’s integrated fire suppression system

Bulk Handling Systems Polishing Screen
![](/fileuploads/publications/35/issues/9950/articles/images/bhs_polishing_screen_fmt.png)
Eugene, Oregon-based Bulk Handling Systems’ Polishing Screen is designed to create three material fractions: mixed fiber, containers and fines. Fiber passes over the screening surface; fines fall through the scree; and three-dimensional containers fall off the back of the screen. Some of the Polishing Screen’s features include:
- a two-piece disc design that allows for easy replacement of discs without shaft or bearing removal
- a disc shape and configuration with precise openings designed to ensure more accurate material sizing
- inline discs that minimize material wrapping, reducing downtime and enhancing safety
- the ability to adjust the angle of the screen and fantail quickly to meet processing needs

Komar EM-60G Auger-Pak
![](/fileuploads/publications/35/issues/9950/articles/images/komar_auger_pak_fmt.png)
Groveport, Ohio-based Komar Industries LLC’s EM-60G Auger-Pak is designed to shred and compact material, reducing transportation costs by compacting 6 to 10 tons of material into a 40-cubic-yard container. Some of its features include:
- a cycloidal drive with 500 percent shock load, which enables the EM-60G Auger-Pak to process large loads without damaging the drive
- cast steel flights used in the auger screw that ensure a long service life and a tapered shaft design to absorb forces, minimizing stress on bearings
- continuous forward-processing motion to prevent materials from springing back as they sometimes do in ram compactors
- a footprint of about 10.5 feet by 8.5 feet and a height of slightly less than 5.5 feet
