McKinney, Texas-based Global Recruiters Network (GRN) of McKinney has announced the placement of John Doyen as president and chief operating officer of Gold Medal Environmental LLC, which is based in Baltimore.
Doyen has more than 30 years of environmental service experience, according to GRN, “with a heavy focus on hauling, collections, recycling and landfill operations.”
Prior to joining Gold Medal, Doyen was the vice president of operations for Clearwater, Florida-based Orion Waste Solutions. Prior to that, he was an area president for Phoenix-based Republic Services, where he oversaw a $500 million region comprised of seven business units and 23 divisions.
Gold Medal, which also manages assets under the Apple Valley Waste name, is a portfolio company of New York-based Kinderhook Industries LLC. That private investment firm manages more than $4.7 billion of “committed capital,” according to GRN.
Gold Medal describes itself as offering collection, processing, disposal and recycling services in Maryland, West Virginia, Central Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. The firm says it focuses on creating sustainably sound waste management processes while delivering superior service by balancing traditional waste management services with "cutting-edge eco-friendly solutions and real-world data."
“John is the perfect fit for the Gold Medal/Apple Valley teams,” says Darren Gruendel, CEO of Gold Medal. “He develops and empowers organizational leaders to be entrepreneurial decision-makers in their markets. With his experience at every level of these organizations, John will accelerate and complete the transformation of Gold Medal. It’s exciting.”
