GEN. SCHWARZKOPF TOSPEAK AT WASTE EXPO
Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf (USA, Ret.), commander of operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, will headline Waste Expo ’98 in Chicago. His talk, entitled “Leadership: From the War Room to the Board Room,” will be given on June 10.
Gen. Schwarzkopf won worldwide acclaim for his brilliant leadership during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Schwarzkopf is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and served two combat tours in Vietnam. His honors include three Silver Stars, three Bronze Stars and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Gen. Schwarzkopf is also active with charitable and environmental organizations, including the Starbright Capital Campaign, which conducts research on reducing pediatric pain; Cap Cure, the Association for the Cure of Cancer of the Prostate; the Boggy Creek Gang, a camp for Florida children with chronic illnesses that he co-founded with Paul Newman; and the Nature Conservancy, with which he is working closely on protecting the grizzly bear. His autobiography, It Doesn’t Take a Hero, was an international bestseller.
Waste Expo is North America’s largest exposition and conference for the waste services and equipment industry, with more than 550 exhibits covering approximately 230,000 square feet.
FORMER POW TO KEYNOTE ISRI CONVENTION
Capt. Gerald Coffee, U.S. Navy (Ret.), will deliver the keynote address at the 11th Annual Convention and Exposition of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI), in San Francisco. Captain Coffee’s presentation, “Beyond Survival,” will be given on the morning of Thursday, March 19.
Capt. Coffee, a POW in Vietnam for seven years, has won numerous awards for his public speaking.
ISRI VIDEO LOOKS AT RADIOACTIVE SCRAP
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) has released a video designed to help scrap processors understand and identify radioactive substances that may enter their facilities. The cost is $50 for one video for ISRI members; $495 for non-members. For a set consisting of one English and one Spanish video, the cost is $85 for ISRI members and $975 for non-members.
