1. What is the ROTAC® difference?
Micromatic offers a class-exclusive, high-efficiency rotary vane actuator with only one moving part—no metal-to-metal contact causing friction or introducing metal debris to your hydraulic system and no gears or teeth working against each other. This results in longer life and more uptime for the customer.
Our Rotac® tippers were designed with input from the waste market. This information led to the development of superior tipper model designs that don’t have the typical failure modes of their competitors and require fewer parts in the cart tipper.
At Micromatic, our tippers, including the actuators, are manufactured, assembled and tested in Indiana. This allows us to minimize lead time on tippers and parts. These products will ship the next business day, or, if ordered early enough, they’ll ship the same day. We understand that a truck that is down is not making money. This all translates to more uptime for our customers.
2. Tipping into the 21st century?
Cart tippers have been around for many years lifting cans into trucks. Here at Micromatic, we have continued to innovate and improve our design. Our mission is to build the most robust cart tipper on the market. Our engineers test and evaluate all our models in our on-site test lab. The latest round of improvements includes an all-new, high-performance sealing system that significantly extends the life of the actuator. The shaft surfaces are heat-treated and precision ground for exceptional wear resistance and longer service life. The goal is to keep all the good in and all the bad out.
3. Are your cart tippers easily serviceable?
Cart tippers live a hard life, and things happen all the time. From the actuator to the lift iron, our products are very serviceable. We stock all the parts for the tipper, including the actuator, and we have provided service instructions in written form and in a YouTube video so customers can watch repairs in a step-by-step process. The actuator itself is rebuildable and can easily be removed from the cart tipper assembly to be serviced if needed. This gives the customer a choice of repair or replacement depending on their preference.
4. Let’s talk about the cost of ownership and downtime.
Obviously, you have the cost to purchase the tipper and the cost to keep it up and running. We use a splined shaft on our actuator, leading to a long life for the lifting arm engagement. We use all steel oscillating hooks and a built-in hard stop. Our designs don’t have a need for latches, springs, etc., which, from what our customers tell us, are common failure points of our competitors’ designs. Our tippers come with all-steel saddles which are reinforced with gussets. Our overall parts count continues to be the lowest on the market, leading to fewer parts that the customer must purchase and stock.
5. What is the future for you and ROTAC®?
Our goal is to continue to expand our customer base and sign up new customers for the cart tipper line every day. We continue to add to the sales force. We find having local people to support the product and build relationships are key. The other thing we are doing is expanding our product line. Our engineers are ready to launch our new type C cart tipper. Same great Rotac® design but with more offerings for customers to choose from.
